New Church

Praise God from whom all blessings flow!

”Four years have passed, four summers with the length of four long winters,” to misquote the poet Wordsworth, and now we see in front of us a wonderful new church built to the glory of God. Indeed God has blessed us. From small beginnings, a first few tentative thoughts, our parishioners embraced the idea of a new church and with generosity and courage and confidence in God have produced “Something Beautiful for God,” a wonderful new church, tall and proud for Christ on Redwood Road.
“Full, active, conscious participation” was the great mantra of the inspired document on the liturgy from the 2nd Vatican Council. It was also the guiding spirit of our parish vision. Our new church is designed, first of all, as a place for the celebration of the liturgy so that Sunday by Sunday the people of St. Joseph’s may assemble as one before God, to join with Jesus in his great sacrifice, his self-gift to the Father, and be refreshed in spirit by Word and Sacrament in Holy Communion. “May all of us who share in the Body and Blood of Christ be brought together in unity by the Holy Spirit.”
With our new church we begin a new phase in parish life and in the ongoing pilgrim journey to heaven of the people of St. Joseph’s. May God continue to bless us. May we be strong in Holy Faith, Hope and Love — and live lives united with Jesus. Again …
Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
