Folk Fest

It’s fundamentally important to have open lines of communication with our parish members. To that point, I’d like to share the ideas of a Parish Council meeting held this past Thursday. First, we’d like to express our gratitude to all of you for your patience as we go about finding ways to engage one another in a stronger spiritual sense as well in finding ways by which we can become better unified in events of our parish.

Our focus is to come together more regularly outside of the Mass. Many ideas began to gel designed to draw us together more often than just once or twice a year. A benefit of this is to help better manage our people resources – primarily you – the parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Parish.

Rather than just one big event – among our plans is to introduce family dinner events in the Social Hall, for example, perhaps quarterly. These include spaghetti dinners, Mexican dinners, Greek and other multicultural dinners. Doing this allows us to experience and embrace the great diversity within our parish.

We’d like to incorporate raffle events with these dinners. We can stage karaoke events, dances, and other forms of fun for all of us. A parish Tent Mass and picnic/barbeque is planned to bring us outside to the field. The Silent Auction will continue to be held. Let us know of your own ideas. Let’s come together.

By redirecting our focus on these events and due to circumstances, which have moved us to cancel the Festival – we will instead look forward to seeing one another at multiple parish events – and giving our parish a fresh breath of air and ease.

On the weekend of June 3rd and 4th when we had planned on having the festival, we will now have a parish picnic on Sunday June 4th. We will have one Mass on the field under the tent at 11:00 am, followed by a BBQ. This will be a parish fundraiser to help replace the festival income so we will be charging for the BBQ lunch, we hope you can join us to support the parish, socialize, and have some great BBQ!

Thank you!
